Bathing Suits For Hire.       Abigail Adams' Bed & Breakfast is a delightful country style inn located on historic Jackson Street, just 100 feet from the nicest beaches in Cape May and less than a block from Cape May's Victorian Washington Street Mall. This charming cottage overlooking the beach is perfectly situated to afford you easy access to all of Cape May's pleasures and treasures.

Built in 1892 by Stephen Decatur Button, Abigail Adams is one of the famous "Seven Sisters" of Cape May. The "Seven Sisters" are seven identical Italian Renaissance style cottages built, as the legend goes, for the seven beloved daughters of a wealthy Cape May builder. They were built on the site of the old Atlantic Hotel that burned down in the Great Fire of 1878. The seven charming houses form an "L" shape with the fronts of the houses facing Atlantic Terrace and the beach.

Porch

From the front porch of Abigail Adams you can see waves crashing on the shore, fishing boats anchored in the distance, and brightly colored beach umbrellas dotting the white sandy beaches. We often see families of dolphins leaping and diving as they follow their "dinner" as it makes its way up the coast.

Our decor is country Victorian and informal; The rooms are bright and breezy, furnished in cheery chintzes, country pine antiques, handmade quilts and lacy curtains at the windows. From most of the windows you can see views of the ocean, feel the breezes as they ruffle the curtains and hear the lapping of the waves on the sand.

"The sea breeze in our room was memorable!"
(Rick and Janet Sandford)

DiningRoom      As guests at Abigail Adams' you meet for breakfast in the hand-stenciled dining room or, when the weather permits, on one of our wicker sunporches overlooking the beach or garden. Our menu includes rich tasting quiches, honey-baked french toasts and cheese souffles and always offers fresh seasonal fruits and just baked coffeecakes or muffins and fruit breads, cereal and juice. "Your breakfasts were heavenly."(Mary Anne and Chris Rossbach)
Parlor      After breakfast during the summer, you can grab a chair and hop across the street for a day at the beach. Or if you feel like exploring, you can take a walk around town, or take a leisurely bike ride to the historic lighthouse at Cape May Point.

As the weather turns brisk, you may gather around the warmth of the fireplace or venture out to enjoy the gaslit streets and the unique architectural treasures that make Cape May such a special place.

In the late afternoon, tea or cold beverages await you, served either on the ocean-view porch in the summer or by the parlor's wood-burning fireplace in the winter. "10 years of seeing the end of summer out at Abigail's and still our most favorite place!" (Dick Hess and Linda Moran)

Innkeeper Kate Emerson has been welcoming guests to her charming Cape May inn by the sea for ten years and looks forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you soon to Abigail Adams' Bed & Breakfast by the Sea.
