Be A Friend!!!
During the fall of 1990 a group of loyal Village supporters formed the Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village, a private nonprofit corporation dedicated to enhancing public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the Village. As a support group, the Friends work tirelessly to assist the Village in preserving, interpreting and educating visitors to the unique heritage of Cape May County. Profits from the Friends treasury as well as HCSV Foundation are reinvested into the Village.
During the first year, the Friends undertook their premiere project which was the restoration of the original Cold Spring and re-creation of the gazebo that once covered the spring. The spring is located on Route 9, next to the tracks of the Cape May Seashore Lines and just south of the Cold Spring Train Station. The following year the Friends embarked on the restoration of the Marshallville School, c. 1825. Following the dedication of the school in May of 1993, work began on the school outhouse, scheduled for completion (but not use!) during the 1995 season. In addition to bricks and mortar projects, the Friends are actively involved in funding the Village educational programs.
Visitors who enjoy the Village and support its mission are encouraged to join the Friends. Membership includes unlimited season admission to the Village, a quarterly newsletter, a 10% discount in the Country Store and Museum Gift Shop and invitations to special "Friends only" events. The Trustees of the HCSV Foundation invite you to become a part of the Village through membership in the Friends of Historic Cold Spring Village or though donations of goods, services or funds. As a member of the Village family, you will have the opportunity to don historical clothing and become involved in the day to day experiences of the Villagers. Membership forms may be found in the Country Store, Gatehouses and Welcome Center in addition to the office.
