NATURAL BEAUTY
Nature abounds along the thirty miles of sandy white beaches and lush wooded inland areas that connect the sixteen communities known as the Jersey Cape.
The unique blend of the vast blue ocean, thick forests, marshy wetlands and wide open spaces gives the Jersey Cape a natural beauty not found anywhere else. Its perfect location between the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay make the Jersey Cape a natural stopover for more than 120 different species of migratory birds in addition to the Monarch Butterflies. The Cape May Bird Observatory in Lower Township conducts nature walks birding seminars and hawk watches. The Wetlands Institute in Middle Township is dedicated to the scientific research of our coastal resources and to public education. Daily programs are open to the public with nature walks, demonstrations and a touch and learn tank.
From Ocean City to Cape May, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Delaware Bay you are limited only by your imagination as to endless photographic opportunities on the Jersey Cape. From sun rises over the ocean to sunsets over the bay and everything in-between, professional and amateur photographers alike have discovered that you just can't take a bad shot of Cape May County. Photography classes are scheduled throughout the year at Cape May Institute. During the summer, master photographers teach seminars on various aspects of their craft.
Located on U.S. Route 9, in Middle Township, twenty five beautifully designed gardens comprise Leaming's Run Garden and Colonial Farm. The peaceful serenity of Leaming's Run invites its visitors to casually stroll through the winding paths from garden to garden. The spectacular colors and sweet aromas surround the gardens to give you a dream-like feeling. The Colonial Farm with its log buildings brings to life the daily challenges faced by the whalers who first settled Cape May County.
