Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn was built in 1857 by Caleb Windle who later served as a bank director, school board director, and a Chester County Commissioner.

Hedgerow Bed & Breakfast Suites is situated in the very heart of the Brandywine Valley, on the Kennett Pike, the road built by P.S. DuPont so he could easily travel from his farm at Longwood to his office in Wilmington, Delaware.

On acreage purchased from Wm. Penn's Commissioners in the 17th Century, Pennsbury Inn's original dwelling house, erected in 1714 of Brandywine Blue Granite rubble stone, was enlarged mid-century by a stone addition of surpassing proportions with the front facade clad in hand-molded Flemish Bond brick.
