Welcome to one of Monmouth County's top tourist attractions, Belmar Beach, which has recently undergone a beach replenishment project.
From Volleyball games to aerobic lessons on the beach, volleyball tournaments to summer festivals, you can even rent Kayaks and the beach south of 16th Avenue is open to surfers.
Stores and restaurants are located along the boardwalk and the west side of Ocean Avenue, and the Nightlife is abundant as the sun begins to set. Restrooms are located at Third, Fifth, Eighth, 11th and 16th avenues and there is an indoor shower and changing facility on the boardwalk at 10th Avenue. Outdoor showers are available at all beaches and Beach wheelchairs are available upon request.
The beach is fully guarded and Daily and Season passes are available. There are several playgrounds on the beach and metered parking is available on Ocean Avenue along the boardwalk. (Although difficult to find empty spots in-season.)
The Beach crowd is mixed consisting mostly of local and out-of-town families and couples, and due to the high vollyball profile, it draws a volleyball crowd and is a stop on the professional volleyball tour in July.
On Weekends and evenings the younger set seems to take over the main Street by the beach and the Town takes on the appearance of a California Beach Community with in-line skaters and cars cruising by the beach.
The borough has numerous events scheduled during the summer and there is almost always something going on to keep you occupied. From Jazz, rock, folk and ethnic concerts to festivals, Belmar will cater to most tastes during the in-season. Whether your desires are strolling quaint Shops to reeling in the catch of your life Belmar offers it within easy distance of the numerous accommodations in the borough.
