Keansburg Description and Photos

Keansburgs largest attraction is the amusement park on Beachway Road which features a new multi-million dollar water park - Runaway Rapids which opened in May, 1996. The park includes 7 water slides emptying into 3 pools, a tube ride and a kiddie lagoon and play area. The amusement park itself is more than 90 years old has over 20 rides, 30 kiddie rides, games, arcades and food concessions. New rides include go-cart tracks and a buccaneer ship named Pharoahs' Fury. The boardwalk is a asphalt walkway on which visitors can stroll through amusement rides and concession stands.

This town's beaches are lifeguard protected and have been cleaned up enormously in recent years. In addition, a new scenic baywalk park opened in July, 1996. Water sports equipment can be rented at the beach and restroom facilities are available. Metered parking is available on the main street and there are municipal, plus amusement park parking lots.

The State Green Acres program recently completed the bay walk, which runs along the waterfront and offers panoramic views of shorebirds and other wildlife. Enjoying the cool breeze from the water while leisurely strolling the walk is a favorite pastime on hot, summer nights. (See Photos Below.) There is metered street and lot parking, as well as restrooms in the area.
