For those who prefer a freshwater swim in a lake, Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive and Fifth Street, in lakewood is an ideal spot to relax. The beach is protected and there are playground accessories for the little ones. Although not a Beach as one thinks of sand and surf, Beachcomber will be adding fresh water lake and river communities to it's information. We hope you enjoy the diversity it offers and to be honest, We feel our audience would be missing out on some of the finer historical and cultural communities if they were omitted.

There is no charge to visit or swim and the beach area is protected. Other Lakes and Parks within the Township's borders are the 565 acre Ocean County Park No. 1, the former estate of John D. Rockefeller in which he imported and planted White pine, hemlock, and other unique specimen trees, from all over the country. There are also Tennis courts, open play fields, and trails and swimming in this county park.

Downtown Lakewood also boasts an ethnic mix of shops and restaurants worth visiting for it's uniqueness and cultural tastes. Designed in a Victorian style, the downtown district's diversity is one of it's drawing points and makes the township unique in it's appeal to a wide range of tastes.
