Ship Bottom
Description and Photos

Ship Bottom is the first Shore community you will encounter as you enter Long Beach Island. It has an Ocean Beach from South Third Street to 31st Street, and a Bay Beach at 15th Street at the bay for those who prefer a calmer water experience than the ocean beach offers. Beach passes are required at both beaches and are available on a daily and seasonal basis and are available at Borough Hall, 17th Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, and also from badge checkers on the beach.

The Beach crowd is very family-oriented, and parking can be a gard commodity to obtain during the season. you may park for up to an hour on oceanfront side streets and all day on bayside streets. Parking also is available at the plaza between 18th and 22nd streets. Restroom facilities are located near the boat ramp area, between 10th and 11th streets.

Ship Bottom has six beach wheelchairs, three adult-size and three child-size. There are handicapped-accessible ramps at 4th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 25th streets. Restroom facilities are located at Borough Hall.

Food, alcoholic beverages and pets are prohibited on the beach but refreshments can be obtained a short walk from the beach in the numerous area restaurants.
